The original TPW, Tessa founded The Power of Words seven years ago and is now proud to be at the helm of this growing consultancy. A hater of jargon and waffle and a lover of enticing titles and compelling narratives, she’s built up a prestigious portfolio of B2B clients. In-house marketers and agencies come back to Tessa time and time again for her savvy idea generation and straight-talking content advice.


From ‘Finding Hygge’ in Denmark, to interviewing the likes of Ken Livingstone, Quentin Tarantino and Julie Andrews (and even reporting on sheep racing in Sark), Tessa’s colourful journalistic career certainly gave her an eclectic start to storytelling.

Jess Watson


Jess is a highly experienced B2B copywriter and content creator, who’s relentless about finding the best way to tell and sell a story. She’s worked in journalism, communications and PR and has particular specialisms in writing thought-leadership features, corporate reports, brochures, SEO content, blogs and website copy. 


As a journalist, Jess worked on several high-profile stories and interviewed some inspiring and courageous people. She once visited Sweden to film a survivor of the Asian tsunami who had been pictured running towards the wave to save her children. Plus, she also interviewed the driver of the London bus at the centre of the 7/7 bombings.

Emma Hayward


A true wordsmith, Emma has been a journalist for more than 20 years, covering international and domestic news for Al Jazeera, BBC, Channel 4 and ITN. Her stories include: Covid-19, Brexit, the Paris terror attacks and climate change. Not shy of asking tough questions to get to the truth, Emma has interviewed Boris Johnson, Phillip Green and Tracey Emin. 


One of Emma’s most enlightening (ahem) assignments was covering the total solar eclipse in the Faroes. Given darkness only fell for a matter of minutes (and the next one isn’t until 2245), it was a huge relief she did her piece to camera right the first take.
